Website change (.net > .me)

I've had a quick look but can't find info on when or why (or if!) the official website changed from lubuntu.net to lubuntu.me, however: (a) The main Ubuntu webpage at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu links to the .me one, and (as the comment above says) only the .me one has the latest 16.04. (b) The lubuntu.me one explicitly links (on http://lubuntu.me/links/) the lubuntu.net one as being official. (I made some edits, but have now reverted them as it's really unclear to me what the real situation is). Snori (talk) 20:58, 24 April 2016 (UTC)

You are quite right, it is really unclear! Oddly the page at http://lubuntu.me/links/ lists lubuntu.net as the "Official Lubuntu website". I hope they delete one of them and redirect it to the official site. In the meantime listing them both in the info box is probably best. - Ahunt (talk) 01:02, 25 April 2016 (UTC)

New Lubuntu Changes

I am really not familiar with Wikipedia, but Lubuntu had a logo change that should be reflected on here.

We also made the LXQt switch official for 18.10.

Hi Simon, thanks for your note here. I guess the official logo page will be updated over time? The use of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License is incompatible with Wikipedia for free licences (since it is not a free licence), but I can update it here on the article under "fair use" instead. Thanks! Would I be able to give Wikipedia explicit permission to use the logo? Lubuntu is fine with Wikipedia/Wikimedia (I'm new here and I don't know the relationship) using it for whatever they'd like. Basically it would need to be released under a new, freer licence, like a CC-BY-SA, or similar, but that would make it publicly available under two incompatible licences. The project may want to look at that generally and consider changing the logo licence to a freer licence. It seems the last logo (the swallow one), was under a Gnu Free Documentation Licence. In the meantime I have added the new logo to the article under "fair use". - Ahunt (talk) 12:38, 21 May 2018 (UTC)

Lubuntu 20.04 web browser

I guess we will find on on Thursday. Falkon was assessed by the Lubuntu dev team earlier, as it is Qt-based, but found lacking. Since there hasn't been a new release of Falkon in 13 months, I doubt it will be included in the LTS, though. - Ahunt (talk) 00:17, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

Just for clarity that item announced KDE Falkon 3.0.1, which is based off of the Qt WebEngine toolkit. but comments to the article included this exchange between a user and Simon Quigley a Lubuntu developer:

Remove the release part or keep important releases only

I actually agree with the proposal, whole article should be rewritten to keep important info only. What's the latest release, what's the latest LTS release, what's the point of the flavor, what it brings to the table etc etc

Adding stuff like "It was released on 24.04 2024." is really bad. And, we already have release table, which should be more than enough. Also, that table is incorrect, as it states 25.10 as the current stable release, instead of 24.04 LTS. Setxkbmap (talk) 02:45, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
