Other Platforms?

[edit]

This article states in the "Other platforms" section:

The HWiNFO tool, which is not related to the hwinfo tool mentioned above, can be downloaded in binary form at no cost. It is claimed to be `System Information and Diagnostics Comprehensive Hardware Analysis, Monitoring and Reporting for Windows and DOS'.

Is is really necessary to add this needless information? If other platforms have something like lspci then there should be some mention of it but that tool needs to be at least officially supported by the platform and either way I don't think this is relevant as per WP:Notability. lspci doesn't feel related enough to HWiNFO to be mentioned on here, since HWiNFO is a tool to do a thorough probe of hardware information and sensors. Even lspci does not perform that breadth of hardware probing. (sensors can probe thermal/electrical sensors, but I think HWiNFO probes the PCI bus and the thermal/electrical sensors). On second thought maybe it is appropriate to be on this article, but my point stands. HWiNFO is heavy and probes quite a bit more than the PCI bus. Macbookair3140 (talk) 01:44, 9 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
