Beginning this review. Edward056686 (talk) 22:00, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
- The lead says this:
By the age of nineteen she had begun to publish illustrated newspaper columns on native animals and plants.
and the article says this:By the age of nineteen, Louisa had begun to regularly contribute illustrated articles on natural history to the Illustrated Sydney News.
but these sentences don't perfectly align.- Tweaked the lead to align with the body. MCE89 (talk) 07:47, 15 May 2026 (UTC)
The legal case eventually stretched over six years and consumed much of the family's wealth, before Charlotte was eventually awarded custody of her children.
Was the family's wealth the estate of the deceased husband, or a separate source of income?- The former, now specified. MCE89 (talk) 07:47, 15 May 2026 (UTC)
- The article says that Atkinson has been described as "the first Australian-born woman novelist". The article should mention that her mother, also a novelist, was born in England. It's not hard to assume but it's better if no one has to.
- Done. MCE89 (talk) 07:47, 15 May 2026 (UTC)
- "Personal life and death" seems like a misnomer for this section, since it seems to cover all aspects of her final years.
- Agreed, changed to "Later years and death". MCE89 (talk) 07:47, 15 May 2026 (UTC)
- "Selected works" includes all of her novels, so it could probably be named "Bibliography".
- Done. MCE89 (talk) 07:47, 15 May 2026 (UTC)
This article looks great on a first pass, I'll do a source spot check and give the entire article another read. Edward056686 (talk) 18:47, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks very much for taking this review @Edward056686! I've replied to all of your comments so far above. MCE89 (talk) 07:47, 15 May 2026 (UTC)
