Emmett Till cause of death

This article says that Louis Till's son Emmett was tortured to death. The Emmett Till article, while mentioning that young Emmett was beaten by his murderers, suggests that he died from being shot in the head, not from the torture. One of the articles needs to be corrected; I am not sure which one since I can't presently run down the Whitfield page 117 source cited in the article. Pirate Dan (talk) 00:52, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

@2603:8080:f600:27a2:8903:3321:19bc:fa57: I made some changes to the content we were (slightly) disputing over, my reasoning is below.

The last sentence of the first paragraph: I don't think it's needed point blank, it looks like it'd fit better on the Emmett Till article itself, as it's about Emmett Till's murder, and subsequent (attempted) justification, not so much about his father. I'd love to be proven wrong about this though, as I think it's good information (/srs)

The sentence in the final paragraph: It seems redundant, and reads a little bit like a young student's book report, as it just serves to justify the earlier sentence, without really adding anything to the section. (/lh)

COI edits

The article is larded with references to "Colonel French MacLean", and books he wrote. Most (all?) of the edits were performed by the author, based on past and current edit history. Eighteen of the 31 references are repeats of his book. I have no ill-will towards the author, but it appears that the article (and many others) have been used to promote his book(s), which violates WP:COI. However, this article is the largest offense, and knowing little to nothing about the topic, I can't really devote the time to repairing this. MacLean Source

I previously removed material cited to MacLean in the Dirlewanger Brigade article. The same concerns appear to apply to this article:

His website promotes a number of conspiracy theories and historical falsehoods. It includes blog posts like "Is Dr. Anthony Fauci Really a Dr. Josef Mengele?" and "The Wisdom of Crowds" which promotes (via JAQing) the Hitler survival conspiracy theory. He also engages in Holocaust revisionism (writing about Heinrich Müller, he says Müller was also active in resolving the Jewish question) and the Clean Wehrmacht myth (writing about Martin Steglich, he says Martin had little interest in politics and was truly a gentleman of the old school).
