This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Barthas is an historical figure, whose memoirs (Poilu: The World War I Notebooks of Corporal Louis Barthas, Barrelmaker, 1914-1918) is regarded as being one of the most important historical references of WWI. The French, German and Dutch Wikipedias have articles about him, with the English one being built from a translation of the french.

The "s" is voiced, not silent. I'm not allowed to link to YouTube videos, but if you search for "Louis Barthas à la bibliothèque Peyriac Minervois . ." and play at the 18-second mark, you'll hear a member of the Louis Barthas Circle say the name.
