not Dalmatian

[edit]

Hi, working on a series of articles on Ilirians & Illyria for bs wiki I came across this one here. I noticed it contains incorrect line: "...of a Dalmatian Illyrian chief..." and reference: "...Longarus, a Dalmatian chief..."

I'd like to suggest making changes using the correct citation:

  • "From the Dardani came Bato, son of the Longarus who had once fought against Philip's father Demetrius II." J. J. Wilkes, The Illyrians, Page 150.

and Livy's original:

  • 28. Hac satis felici expeditione bello commisso reguli ac principes accolae Macedonum in castra Romana veniunt, Pleuratus Scerdilaedi filius et Amynander Athamanum rex et ex Dardanis Bato Longari filius: bellum suo nomine Longarus cum Demetrio Philippi patre gesserat. pollicentibus auxilia respondit consul Dardanorum et Pleurati opera, cum exercitum in Macedoniam induceret... (Ab Urbe Condita, 31.28)

The same goes for article Longarus of the Delmatae; I suggest to delete it including article Bato of Dalmatia (Bato of Dardania is OK).
