The claim that Loki has anything to do with "lokki~grindalokki~grindalokkur" originates from 2011's "Loki, the Vätte, and the Ash Lad: A Study Combining Old Scandinavian and Late Material." By Eldar Heide and 1961's "Loki in Scandinavian Mythology" by Anna Birgitta Rooth. For starters, "lokki~grindalokki~grindalokkur" does not exist. The actual Faroese word is just grindalokkur(as accurately listed in "Loki in Scandinavian Mythology" on page 201), and 1911's "Lokes mytiska ursprung" by Hilding Celander posits on page 15 that any word seemingly associated with Loki that contains two k's originates from another, unknown word, which is corroborated by both M. F. Lundgren and Johan Ernst Rietz. This was in response to claims of Loki's association with spiders, for which no evidence beyond similar names exists.
