Liz is the abbreviation of Elizabeth and became popular in the 'Elizabethan' period. The oldest recording of the abbreviation came from the early 1600's at Cedar Hall registry.
Liz became popular again in the 21st century as people refered to people as 'Liz' when females or female looking males had big blonde hair and very 'drag' like make up, people would claim 'Its Lizz!!' —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.220.169.209 (talk) 17:39, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
