Merge into BPJ?

[edit]

Since the cases were consolidated in the opinion today, shall we merge this article into West Virginia v. B.P.J.? satkaratalk 15:20, 30 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Wait. Consolidated cases are not an automatic merge, because they can be separately notable (e.g., all of the cases consolidated in Brown v. Board of Education#Supreme Court arguments). It looks like there is secondary sourcing in both background sections that could potentially justify separate notability here. lethargilistic (talk) 15:29, 30 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Merge. The decision was consolidated and historically consolidated cases (like Students v Harvard) were merged. I think to make it easier for the reader, it should be merged. LucsLee (talk) 20:47, 30 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's not an automatic merge. Per the discussion about Students v. Harvard, we need to look at whether they are separately notable. In that case, the merge discussion was closed saying they were not. In this case, nobody has actually reviewed whether this case is separately notable, so it is not appropriate to say one way or another at this time. lethargilistic (talk) 21:47, 30 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Keep. I have now reviewed both articles. There are several articles specifically about Hecox () and, likewise, B.P.J. (; behind paywalls I can't pass: ) without seriously discussing the other. These cases are separately notable. The coverage of the holding in our Hecox article could be abbreviated and say "Main article: B.P.J", though. lethargilistic (talk) 01:20, 1 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
