Cleaned up, but will remain problematic
[edit]Chatbots are a dime a dozen these days. I think it will become necessary to factor out the historical chatbots (those that predate ChatGPT 3 or 3.5) and everything subsequent (the flood) if this list is to retain non-historical relevance. — MaxEnt 04:55, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
Merge
[edit]- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- The result of this discussion was to merge (per WP:SILENCE; I am assuming incomprehensible IP comments do not count against it). –Gluonz talk contribs 12:58, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
Hello, I propose a merge of Comparison of user features of chatbots into List of chatbots. Both articles have similar scopes, and the former is essentially just a list of lead sections of articles. This is not necessarily bad (it is probably more informative than what this article currently provides), but it does not serve the function of being a comparison particularly well. The article is trying to fit into a series of “Comparison of user features of” articles, which currently contains three articles, but I have explained why I think that series is not very useful on the talk page of “Comparison of user features of chatbots”. Essentially, the style used is not informative enough compared to the “table” comparison style, and each of the other two articles could reasonably be merged into another as well. List of chatbots also seems to list chatbots (obviously), but it is older and includes more chatbots, hence my proposal. I would also suggest that, upon the completion of the merge, this article be renamed “Comparison of chatbots”, and adopt a table format to compare them. An adapted version of the table at Large language model#List could be used as a starting point for this. I would be interested in hearing what others think about this. Thanks! –Gluonz talk contribs 00:23, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
- Virtual assistant#Comparison of notable assistants may also help serve as a basis for a table. –Gluonz talk contribs 02:15, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
- Update: The table format does seem more informative, so I have begun to implement it. Additionally, after reviewing WP:NCSAL, I have decided to relinquish my proposal to rename this article to “Comparison of chatbots”. I still support the merge, and it remains up for discussion. –Gluonz talk contribs 18:30, 4 February 2024 (UTC)

Mistral Le Chat missing in list

The list should also indicate generative AI usage
[edit]Since GenAI-powered chatbots like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Grok are being popular now, the list should be updated to distinguish between traditional chatbots and GenAI-powered chatbots. Ijoe2003 (talk) 10:16, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
List of Chatbots
[edit]z.ai (powered by z.ai models, the GLM family) is missing from the list. Pier4r (talk) 10:01, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
The LLM list indicates which AIs can be installed on Windows
[edit]However, it appears to be wrong. The Meta AI entry can only be used from Windows via their web interface if their website is any indication. I didn't see any app download links. You can download models, but I suspect you have to write your own app around the model you pick. They aren't ready to go out of the box. Will (Talk - contribs) 03:56, 18 July 2026 (UTC)
