Character, Cast & duration

Hi recently the character lists been changed to a new format. I find it confusing and not necessary since previous cast and years are listed inside the characters page I agree past cast might be used on the main menu but the duration they played them I don’t and I’m probably not the only one either but it takes someone opening a discussion. No other soap Wikipedia page other than Dool have this format. Why couldn’t it be kept like home and away or Eastenders layout? 77.99.166.158 (talk) 21:36, 15 August 2025 (UTC)

I didn't make this change, but in my view it's all benefit and no drawback. Past cast have always been present, though did used to be ordered with the present iteration first rather than chronologically. Separating the year ranges by actor doesn't add any lines to the tables, but provides useful information and appropriate clarity in some cases, e.g. we can see now that Holly Hoyland was only played by another actor in 2007, and ever since her 2013 reintroduction has been Lucinda Armstrong Hall. And in the rare instances where an actor has left and returned to the same role, e.g. Libby Kennedy, we can now see that Michala Banas is not the most recent portrayal.

Also, this article is far, far closer in format to List of EastEnders characters / List of Home and Away characters than List of Days of Our Lives cast members, the only significant difference being the aforementioned splitting of duration year ranges by actors.
