Declaration of affiliation

Hello, my name is Louise and I work for Cambridge Assessment English. I'm here to update outdated content and suggest information that will improve the quality of Cambridge Assessment English related pages. I will abide by Wikipedia's policies and guidelines and would welcome Wikipedians' views on the updates.

Major update to article

While researching Linguaskill for a student, I found that the Wikipedia page was very out of date. It had not been updated in many years, and its information was no longer current with the updates to the test rolled out in 2024/2025. I therefore undertook to rewrite almost the entire article.

While the new information is, to the best of my knowledge, fully accurate, there are a few issues I want to flag in the hopes that someone else may be able to assist if/as needed.

• I was able to find little or no information about the history of Linguaskill's development (other than the 2024/2025 update) beyond what was already in the article.
• Under History, the paragraph "Having successfully demonstrated..." seems irrelevant to the article apart from its reference to BULATS, which was eventually replaced by Linguaskill. I didn't remove it in case it does have some historical value, but perhaps it should be investigated.
• I realize that most of my citations are to primary sources. This is because:

1. very few, if any, secondary sources have been updated for the new version of the test;
2. those that have merely provide the same information as found in the primary source;
3. if I were a candidate looking for information about the exam, I would trust the primary source's information over a secondary source's information.

• Thus hopefully this justifies the frequency of primary sources used. I imagine that within a few years, more secondary sources will have updated information and additional commentary on the exam so that they can be incorporated.

• The Usage section is weak. I couldn't find any sources (primary or secondary) that gave clear numbers or other data about organisations which accept Linguaskill or Linguaskill Business. Linguaskill's website lists examples of organisations that use the test (mostly internally), but nothing concrete about who accepts it. Cambridge has a database, but it would require manually searching country-by-country and examining each organisation for the situations in which they accept the exam – and unfortunately I haven't got time to do that. Perhaps someone else knows a way to access that data, or can find a reliable source which has published that information so something more concrete can be added to the Wikipedia page.
• In the Preparation section, I tried to provide general information about the kinds of resources available for the exam without making it sound promotional.
