too-technical tag

Someone placed a too-technical tag on this article without leaving an explanation on the details of the perceived problem on this talk page. According to the description of this tag, such an explanation should be given and according to the advises when to remove a tag a missing explanation may be reason enough to remove it.

I nevertheless want to take this tag as an occasion to improve the article in the direction of a better readability for the widest reasonable audience that can be assumed. Of course, this is a very technical topic that cannot be accessible to everyone. In my opinion the widest reasonable audience that should be able to read at least some parts of the article is university students who get confronted with density functional theory in their studies and researchers from other fields who read an article in which the LAPW method is mentioned. The main audience are Master- and PhD students and researchers who directly get confronted with the LAPW method and want to know more about the topic when they stumble upon it. Of course, I might have forgotten certain groups to whom this article is of interest.

I would like to have as much input as possible on issues of this article. If you feel like you should be able to understand this article, but have difficulties with some aspects, please comment here on your background and on the article aspects that require improvement. Please also comment if you feel that certain subtopics are missing.
