Lag time
[edit]Experts believe that a time delay of 330 milliseconds would be the maximum acceptable delay, but thanks to years of research and development by France Telecom, this was cut down to a mere 150 milliseconds for the operation.

Context
[edit]I've added {{context}} to this article. The article needs a better introductory paragraph that explains what exactly this technology does. The information is sprinkled throughout the rest of the article, but it makes for a very confusing read to not be told flat-out in the beginning what exactly it is so the reader has some context in their mind with which to understand the rest of the information. --Icarus (Hi!) 19:11, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
- I've done a major copyedit on the whole article, so that it fits better with Wikipedia style guidelines. It should read less like an advert/press release now, and provide the key information in the introductory paragraph. I'm also going to remove the merge tag, as I think this definitely merits a separate article in and of itself, particularly as it was an historical event. -Kieran 10:59, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Motivation?
[edit]I read through the article once just now and did not come away with any inkling of why this procedure would ever have to be done. Is there anything that can be added to clarify this? Either it's just a proof of some other principle, or is there some situation where a surgeon would want to control a robotic instrument far away?--Skoch3 (talk) 05:31, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
