I'm studying the CCNP BCMSN course and LWAPP is not the control protocol it is a tunneling method/protocol to allow the LAP's to connect to the WLC's. The Cisco Wireless Control System (WCS) is the name of the server application presenting a GUI to cover the functions mentioned in this article.

- Well, I'm currently not studying CCNP, but I was currently sniffing the traffic, between APs and WLC, and while it also provides the tunneling as you said, it is also used to control the APs.
- It seems like almost all (or all?) communication between WLC and AP is through that protocol. So I think the "control" is a right term. 131.179.144.190 (talk) 20:50, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

I have used 3Com's AP controller and sniffer tags the control protocol as 'LWAPP'; don't know if there are the same.--水水 (talk) 03:38, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
