Change article title to "Theatrical lighting design"

The article references "Architectural lighting design" as a different page (considering it is indeed a different topic). Therefore, this page should be changed to "Theatrical lighting design" — staying with the pattern. GaffTape (talk) 03:20, 17 November 2024 (UTC)

As already noted by others, this article suffers from several issues:

• It is broadly titled "lighting design" but its scope excludes significant applications like architectural lighting design and landscape lighting.
• Its statements are poorly supported, with no inline citations (only a broad bibliography in the References section).
• In addition, it appears largely redundant to the better article for stage lighting.

Therefore, I propose that one of the following changes be implemented:

• Change the title to narrow scope to a subset of stage lighting, such as theatrical lighting (as previously suggested by user GaffTape). This would probably be simplest. If pursuing this approach, some content could be removed to streamline and avoid overlap/conflict with that better page.
• Alternatively, move anything worth keeping to the stage lighting page (but don't duplicate anything there). Then either use this page as a high-level hub linking to other pages (e.g., architectural lighting design, landscape lighting, stage lighting) or -- perhaps better still -- simply delete it to avoid overlap with the lighting page.

I'd be happy to help implement the needed changes, but wouldn't want to invest time making edits if they will be automatically rejected by others protective of content they've contributed to this article. Jrtuenge (talk) 01:49, 26 November 2025 (UTC)

Stubify

I removed paragraphs upon paragraphs from this article, all of which were laden with overly technical specifications without a single source in sight. The article was in severe violation of WP:NOTHOWTO. If someone with better knowledge on the subject would be willing to rebuild with actual sourcing and a more neutral tone, then please feel free to do so. Thanks. I still think this page should be deleted or moved (renamed) as noted above, given the overlap with the Lighting#Lighting practice sections I just grouped together, but this is certainly a good start. Jrtuenge (talk) 17:41, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
