Palaeography
[edit]I see that this page topic is identified within the field of Philately, however, it looks like it could also be correctly categorized within the field of Palaeography. (Description on WP: “Included in the discipline is the practice of deciphering, reading, and dating manuscripts, and the cultural context of writing,…”) Does anyone in this field have a concern for this additional category? This is relevant for the subsection of technical analysis on pages such as X-ray microtomography. Zatsugaku (talk) 13:12, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Zatsugaku: it is getting that category from {{Philately-stub}} - this may have outgrown "stub" status now; so that could be replaced with regular category links. It is generally OK for articles to be in many categories if they are at least partially related to the category topic. — xaosflux Talk 16:17, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
Coining of letterlocking term
[edit]@Finell: Thank you for helping me improve Letterlocking. I found this page because of the recent Nature article and thought I’d try to more comprehensively integrate it with related topics. Per your catch, I’m looking for an acceptable cite for the coining of the term and this one from the NYT 2015 on Letterlocking (already cited elsewhere on the page) looks like it might suffice. Do you agree? However, all such stories essentially point back to Ms. Dambrogio as the source. I have checked OED and searched around and haven’t yet found any reference to the term “Letterlocking” in work prior to hers. Perhaps until a stronger citation is available the reference to who coined the term would be appropriate for an EFN? Zatsugaku (talk) 22:41, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Zatsugaku: it is still in reference to research from Dambrogio, but it looks like she gave a presentation on this topic in 2013, so at least as far as the etymology of the term goes it is at least that old:
