I’m the current Chair of Letter Exchange, so I have a conflict of interest with the subject. I’d like to suggest adding a short section listing the organisation’s Chairs since its foundation in 1988.
The proposed section is:
Chairs
[edit]| Chair | Term |
|---|---|
| David Quay | 1988–1991 |
| Stephen Raw | 1991–1994 |
| Annet Stirling | 1994–1997 |
| Ron Costley | 1997–2000 |
| Sally Bower | 2000–2003 |
| Rachel Yallop | 2003–2006 |
| Dave Farey | 2006–2009 |
| Rosella Garavaglia | 2009–2012 |
| Mark Noad | 2012–2018 |
| Robbie Schneider | 2018–2022 |
| Jeremy Tankard | 2022–2025 |
| Jamie Clarke | 2025–present |
Much of the succession is documented in published issues of Forum, Letter Exchange’s twice-yearly journal (ISSN 1472-0604), which has been published since 2000. I have references for Sally Bower (Forum 1, Autumn 2000), Rachel Yallop (issue 6), Dave Farey (issue 12), Rosella Garavaglia (issue 18), Mark Noad (issue 24), Robbie Schneider (issue 36), Jeremy Tankard (issue 44), and the 2025 change to Jamie Clarke.
Annet Stirling’s term as Chair from 1994–1997 is also documented independently.
I haven’t yet found published sources confirming the precise terms of David Quay, Stephen Raw and Ron Costley, although David Quay’s service as Chair is documented independently. I’d welcome advice on whether the complete chronology can be included with citations to the available sources, or whether further sourcing is needed for those early terms.
