[edit]AIUI a letter quality printer is simply any printer that can produce similar quality to traditional metal print. Its not a certain printing mecahnism or family of them. The reason the term sees little use now is because nearly all printers today are letter quality.

I tend to disagree. Say, TROFF community seems to distinguish "letter-quality printers" from "typesetting quality".

NLQ vs LQ
[edit]When does it cross over from NLQ to LQ? Is it at a specific DPI? For example, 300 dpi seems to be considered a good print resolution. Is that LQ? How about 167dpi? 2600:8800:7000:33:0:0:0:144 (talk) 19:10, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
