but what does it mean?

common usege seems to be "lest you forget" to mean "don't you forget"

"Lest you forget, we need this brother"

-- My beef is: why is this not referred to anywhere?

"They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.

At the going down of the sun and in the evening

we will remember them. - Lest we forget!"

Wake in Fright (1971) directed by Ted Kotcheff: reference

There is a reference of the ode in the movie Wake in Fright (1971) directed by Ted Kotcheff. They recite the second stanza of the poem and keep a few seconds of silence. They finish with "Lest We Forget" Emprexer (talk) 23:43, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
