1990 Cup final replay question

[edit]
He was surprisingly named as goalkeeper for the 1990 FA Cup final replay against Crystal Palace (even though United had signed him after the transfer deadline)

If he was signed after the transfer deadline, why was he able to play in the match? Excuse me if this is a stupid question, but I'm not hugely knowledgeable about football regulations. Loganberry (Talk) 12:03, 10 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

The article also states that he was signed in December 1989. December has never been "after the transfer deadline"..... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 06:32, 19 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
It might be a resentful reference to the terms of his loan, which apparently had to be extended after the original match to allow him to play in the replay. See , , . cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:34, 19 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
