Apparent anachronism (section The Great Escape)

He is stated to have been arrested by 'the German Home Guard' on his recapture on 27 March 1944 but the force, in German Volkssturm, were not formed until September of that year. It may be mentioned in the cited published source but this may be an error. Do other known published sources confirm this or name another kind of organisation that may have been regarded by the allied servicemen as having the function of one? For the meantime I have added a (sic) with a footnote to explain the doubt.Cloptonson (talk) 16:26, 31 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
