Research section
[edit]The research section goes into far too much detail and exhaustively lists a significant portion of Leo Radzihovsky's research rather than providing a summary of said research in a compendium format. Snaver4l (talk) 18:49, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
- Agreed, so why don't you condense it. Ldm1954 (talk) 19:44, 13 April 2026 (UTC)

COI edit request: sourcing, neutrality, and BLP cleanup
[edit]| The user below has a request that an edit be made to Leo Radzihovsky. That user has an actual or apparent conflict of interest. The requested edits backlog is very high. Please be extremely patient. There are currently 616 requests waiting for review. Please read the instructions for the parameters used by this template for accepting and declining them, and review the request below and make the edit if it is well sourced, neutral, and follows other Wikipedia guidelines and policies. |
I am Leo Radzihovsky, the subject of this article, and therefore have a conflict of interest. I am requesting independent review rather than editing the article directly. I would be grateful if an uninvolved editor would review and, where appropriate, implement the following limited changes. The purpose is to improve BLP sourcing and neutrality and to condense the research discussion, not to expand the article into a résumé.
Lead
[edit]Please replace the current promotional description in the lead with the following neutral wording:
Leo Radzihovsky is a Russian-American theoretical condensed-matter physicist and a College Professor of Distinction at the University of Colorado Boulder. His research spans classical and quantum condensed matter, including liquid crystals, fluctuating membranes, driven disordered media, superconductivity, and ultracold atomic gases.
This removes evaluative phrases such as “revealing novel states of matter” while retaining a factual description of the research areas.

Early life and education
[edit]Please replace the current paragraph with:
Radzihovsky was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, in 1966. He emigrated to the United States with his family in 1980. He received B.S. and M.S. degrees in physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1988, followed by an A.M. in physics in 1989 and a Ph.D. in physics from Harvard University in 1993. His graduate studies at Harvard were supported by a Hertz Fellowship. From 1993 to 1995, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Chicago.

- Marsha Marotta, “Happy to be here,” The Daily News, Springfield, Massachusetts, 23 October 1980, p. 29. This contemporaneous newspaper report states that Radzihovsky, then 14, had moved with his family from Russia to Springfield six months earlier. A scan can be provided if verification is needed.
Career
[edit]The present sentence gives unsupported intermediate promotion dates. Please replace it with:
Radzihovsky joined the University of Colorado Boulder as an assistant professor of physics in 1995. In 2023, he was named a College Professor of Distinction by the university’s College of Arts and Sciences.

Research
[edit]Please replace the existing detailed research section, including the primary-source maintenance tags and the unsupported statement that a predicted phase was “recently observed experimentally,” with the following concise summary:
Radzihovsky’s theoretical research spans classical and quantum condensed matter, particularly systems in which fluctuations and spatial heterogeneity play important roles. His work has included bent-core and other liquid crystals, fluctuating membranes, and driven elastic media subject to quenched disorder. In quantum condensed matter, he has studied degenerate atomic gases, including the BCS–BEC crossover near narrow Feshbach resonances and associated topological phase transitions.

This replacement would eliminate the five explicit “non-primary source needed” tags and the additional citation mismatch concerning the claimed experimental observation. It also responds to the previous Talk-page concern that the research section was too detailed.

Maintenance template
[edit]After implementing these changes and checking the remaining claims, please assess whether the broad BLP-sourcing maintenance template can be removed. I understand that this decision should be made by an uninvolved editor.
