socialist mode of production

[edit]

The second paragraph of this article says that the socialist mode of production was established in Soviet Russia, which contradicts the article on the Socialist mode of production. That article defines it as production for use, rather than exchange, which doesn't make sense because Soviet Russia still had money, which means that they also had commodity production. Jargon

[edit]

Rather than an encyclopedia article written for regular people, this entry reads like an essay written by a first year arts degree student Andy42W (talk) 08:52, 23 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Have you read freshman papers? A little enthusiastic about your average first-year arts student. Yue🌙 09:00, 24 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Left-Wing Criticism section

[edit]

@Zalaraz The sentence you're inserting here seems to be WP:OR. Please make sure to cite content you add to Wikipedia. in this case, the claim should probably be cited to a secondary source.

Additionally, this section is on "Left-Wing Criticism" of Lenin, it's not the place to be giving the reader Lenin's own arguments. Surely every point made in the Criticisms section doesn't have to include "and Lenin addressed this point by arguing XYZ," so why should this article single out only this point to supply Lenin's counterargumentation? Also, I realize now that I forgot to change my first edit summary after deciding to break my removals into two edits. My first edit was removing this OR, my second was removing the block of irrelevant information at the end of the section. DiodotusNicator (talk) 08:23, 11 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Additionally, this sentence seems to be addressing a sentence covering a critique Luxemburg delivers in 1918. The Right of Nations to Self-Determination was published in 1914 and therefore can't possibly be "a response to" Luxemburg's 1918 criticism.. DiodotusNicator (talk) 08:30, 11 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
It is easily verifiable. Jones, R. J. Barry (11 September 2002). Routledge Encyclopedia of International Political Economy. Routledge. p. 919. ISBN 978-1-136-92739-3. Retrieved 11 January 2026. Zalaraz (talk) 08:45, 11 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
This only makes it clearer that this is WP:SYNTH: "Do not combine material from multiple sources to state or imply a conclusion not explicitly stated by any of the sources."
The sentence you want to add: "In his polemic against Rosa Luxemburg The Right of Nations to Self-Determination, Lenin also defended his position on national liberation, arguing that Russia was going through a period of bourgeois-democratic phase that necessitated the formation of nation states."
You are framing a work from 1914 as an argument against Luxemburg's criticism of Bolshevik governance in 1918. The Bolsheviks did not take power until 1917.
You also did not address my argument about whether this kind of content is even due in this section. The section obviously should not include Lenin's counterarguments against every single critical point made, so why should this sentence in particular be followed by Lenin's counterargument? That content can be added elsewhere then but not outright removed as you have done, i will be restoring it in the section "National self-determination"section, you can reply if you have any objections. Zalaraz (talk) 09:06, 11 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sure, just remember to cite content you're introducing. DiodotusNicator (talk) 09:31, 11 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
