@Realcosmixyt: After reading this article, I have the impression that a major reason for writing this article is the 2006 Leisureplex Blanchardstown shooting. However, its current placement in the article is jarring, to me. I am left with wanting to know more. Why did the shooting happen? And how is it related to the Leisureplex organization, other than just happening to be the venue of the shooting. Was the security guard targeted specifically, or is this a robbery gone wrong? The article doesn't explain, and I think it should, as it appears to be the reason for including this article in WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography - Cameron Dewe (talk) 09:07, 19 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
When I was first writing the article, I had zero idea a shooting happened, and I came across it while researching. Also, it doesn't explain certain things about the shooting, as I wanted to keep it quite short so it wouldn't just fill the article with that. And no, it wasn't the reason to write the article that would be stupid, and like I said, I had no idea a shooting ever happened until I came across it. Also, as you can see each Leisureplex has its own unique history, and I didnt want to leave Leisureplex Blanchardstown out as it is quite important to the chain and one of the main ones so I just added the breif fact that a shooting happened. @Realcosmixyt: Thanks for explaining how you came to include the brief facts of the 2006 Leisureplex Blanchardstown shooting in the article. However, I think my issue with the article is that the 2006 shooting is mentioned in the same sentence as the centre opening in 1997. The word "and" makes it sound like the opening is directly connected with the shooting, when there is a nine years interval between them. I wonder if the shooting even needs to be in the same paragraph as the venue. Perhaps if the shooting was in a separate section, the article might read better. I agree that giving undue weight to the shooting is undesirable, but at present the article seems to give insufficient information about the shooting and fails to strike the right balance between information about the various Leisureplex venues and the shooting. I think more should be said about the shooting, but this should be in a separate section so that it could be spun off as a sub-article, if it got too large. Meanwhile, I wonder if each venue/location should have its own separate subsection. That way you could write about the history of the chain separately from writing about each venue. I think the article is part way there already, and the addition of a few well placed section headings would help with the article structure. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 11:09, 21 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
