Competitive Community and Tournaments

[edit]

On the PC, the original competitive modification named "Confogl", was created by community member ProdigySim.[1] It is now a playable mutation included in the game.[2][3][4] Confogl is a set of rules for competitive Left 4 Dead 2 versus which standardizes certain elements and changes the distribution of items and weapons. It tips the scales toward the infected.[5] Tournaments have been held utilizing the Confogl modification, such as the CEVO tournament.[6]

Frank West and others Easter Eggs

[edit]

On the walls in a optional room are some Easter eggs of Frank West, Shaun of the Dead, and others. All of which are written on the the surrounding walls.  Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.39.185.253 (talk) 17:26, 10 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

The campaign where it is if you don't know is The Passing on level 2 as I know of Lordofcallofduty (talk) 02:13, 16 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Not really Survival Horror

[edit]

It's classified as survival horror, but it feels more arcade. It involves mowing down hundreds of enemies and feeling like a god with your friends. Survival horror involves careful preservation of resources, slow, methodical gameplay and oftentimes avoiding combat (better examples of Survival Horror are Resident Evil or Signalis). Left 4 dead 2 has the steam workshop and has levels where you can find grenade launchers and the machine gun both have limited ammo so it might have been classified as survival horror because of the campaign type game just like Zombie Army 4 Dead war and unlike it Left 4 dead 2 had a successful fanbase unlike TF2 and both made by valve so the main reason as I think it was classed as Survival horror is the zombies, Soundtrack and levels being the reason
TLDR: The game includes gore and death and med kits and guns and more and they called it survival horror due to the health system Lordofcallofduty (talk) 02:12, 16 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

The survivors are asymptomatic carriers, not immune.

[edit]

The setting section mentions asymptomatic carriers but does not say the protagonists are carriers instead calling them immune when they are very much carriers. Valvefan14 (talk) 15:32, 17 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

My mistake, the l4d1 survivors are carriers but the l4d2 survivors are unconfirmed, I had googled it and it gave me results for the 14d1 survivors when I googled l4d2, but a change in wording to include "possibly carriers" would be nice. Valvefan14 (talk) 16:18, 17 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
You had to google it to find out eve though you could look at the voicelines for the game and mainly the parish finale at the bridge Lordofcallofduty (talk) 02:14, 16 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Voice line added chance?

[edit]

I have played left 4 dead 2 personally and in Dark Carnival Nick can say "Oh good now we can die there as adults" is it good for this page or no Lordofcallofduty (talk) 02:08, 16 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Zonemod And Zonemod Variants (Competitive Community)

[edit]

I believe that Zonemod should be mentioned in the competitive play section, as confogl isn't used anymore and is incredibly outdated. All competitive tournaments/cups use some variation of zonemod, and so do websites like CedaPUG and l4dcenter. ~2026-15562-81 (talk) 21:25, 11 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

They'd be worth mentioning, but there are no reliable sources that cover either game mode. Shawtybaespade (talk) 03:23, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I see, so do I just hold off on mentioning it until reliable sources cover it? The competitive community is fairly niche so there most likely won't be coverage of it but zonemod is so important to the competitive community that I just find it odd that it doesn't even get a mention in the "Competitive play" section. I hope that it can at least be edited so as for it to be acknowledged. Not mentioning it would create incomplete view of competitive play. SzaoMori (talk) 01:23, 13 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately, unless a reliable secondary source can be found discussing it, it looks like it'll be another case of WP:BFDI. While it may be popular, all sources that could establish notability fail to meet the guidelines for RSes typically because they're community created and are therefore self-published. It's a flaw with Wikipedia and the media in general. 9yz (talk) 08:53, 15 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
