re-vamp

I've redone this page after putting the cleanup tag on a couple of days ago. It was largely a personal essay, liberally sprinkled with unparaphrased paragraphs from the Garfinkel source. Un-MoF stuff like the bolding for emphasis is removed as well as editorializations (that the Iraq insurgency is leaderless or that leaderless resistance caused the Gaza pullout). Article needs updating and more cites

Overall there is much good information here, but also some dubious claims and lack of cites for which references are clearly available. I am going to take a crack at it today, but welcome any assistance. We also could create a useful bibliography.Chip.berlet (talk) 13:40, 26 June 2015 (UTC)

What is this business about the origin of leaderless resistance coming from an ex-CIA officer? If the rest of the article attributes the approach to groups such as anarchists, animal rights activists, etc. then the history ought to reflect that and not be a purported history of its currency among the US far right. 2601:8C:4880:41F0:A897:D805:F0F0:D7F (talk) 05:07, 11 May 2025 (UTC)

Antifa?

Antifa seems to reflect this organisational structure, might be worth having a section on them since the most vaguely leftist representation on this article is restricted to various forms of environmentalism. FAISSALOO_(talk) 19:10, 3 October 2020 (UTC)

Massive synth issue

I have cut this down some but this article has a massive, bizarre SYNTH problem where the vast majority of sources are not actually about leaderless resistance at all; even if you were to broaden the scope more than actual usages of the term "leaderless resistance" (which I don't agree with), none of the examples were actually leaderless resistance going by the definition provided in the sources. Direct action is not synonymous with leaderless resistance, and none of the sources said it was - so why are we talking about leaderless resistance based on sources that don't discuss it?

This term is mostly though not entirely used with reference to the far-right, and the term was popularized by a white supremacist, a fact this article strangely downplays to try to portray the strategy as some broader idea of direct action. PARAKANYAA (talk) 03:47, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
