I am removing the statement "Lead shielding is used near areas where depleted uranium shells are being fired.". As DU is only slightly radioactive and is itself used for shielding purposes I do not believe to be correct. If a reference is provided I would be delighted to be proved wrong. Article should mention the 70-80keV hard X-rays created on the lead shielding (as seen in spectroscopy) and what causes it. There are probably other peaks created as well. Charlieb000 (talk) 01:25, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

bremsstrahlung is mentioned in the article. Proposed update to "Wear" section for patient contact shielding

I am proposing to update the paragraph on reproductive organ protection to reflect contemporary guidelines, which no longer support routine patient contact shielding in radiography. I intend to add citations including position statements from international colleges of medical physics, and a recent implementation study (DOI:10.1002/jmrs.70053) of which I am a co-author to demonstrate a safe and structured methodology to withdraw shielding from practice in children's medical imaging.
