Wish we had a date on the Stanford Alumni Magazine article, as it is a Reliable Source. Would be good to mention he's a 1962 graduate of the school. He may well be the son and grandson of Allen Lawrence Chickering (1900-1996) and Allen Lawrence Chickering (1877-1958), although Ancestry.com is not RS. This could also be coincidence, or collateral, non-lineal relatives. The (possible?) grandfather was the President of the California Historical Society in the 1930s and is mentioned in the article Drake's Plate of Brass. Have found several online references to A. Lawrence Chickering III in legal references, often with a San Francisco connection, and I do believe that squares with this speaker's bio which mentions he's an alum of both Stanford and Yale Law School. He edited and/or was involved with many legal publications in the 1970s but does not appear to be an active lawyer today.
A. Lawrence Chickering has written for National Review and for Harper's (a 1979 article under subscription access) with good biographical and professional color likely to be found in those links. Will help as I can, keep up the good start! Vesuvius Dogg (talk) 17:54, 10 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
