This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Slatkin meets four, not only one, of the academic notability criteria: her work has had significant impact, she was an elected senior fellow of the CHS, she is a distinguished professor and she was editor in chief of a major journal in her field. --KateCook (talk) 07:36, 1 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure what the logic behind nomination for deletion is as there is no ambivalence. According to guidelines for notability: 5. 'The person has held a distinguished professor appointment at a major institution of higher education and research, a named chair appointment that indicates a comparable level of achievement, or an equivalent position in countries where named chairs are uncommon.' Therefore the subject of the page is notable and the page should not be deleted. Srsval (talk) 11:18, 1 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Frankly, I declined the speedy not because the subject is especially WP:Notable. Because the subject is clearly WP:Verifiable, the page did not qualify for WP:A7 speedy deletion, IMHO. The sourcing is still quite weak; academics don't get as much respect as you might think at AfD, often lacking coverage from multiple in-depth and independent sources. See WP:PROF. I'd fortify this page as best you can before somebody nominates it. Academic book reviews may help. BusterD (talk) 12:59, 1 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
In relative comparison to other biographical Wikipedia pages of academics, I think that the citations are fine Srsval (talk) 10:29, 5 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
