Taxonomic revision
[edit]I'm going to change the taxonomic listing of the Hawaiian hoary bat from Lasiurus semotus to Lasiurus cinereus semotus. The Baird et al. (2015) paper referenced for elevating the Hawaiian hoary bat from a subspecies to a species did not appear to gain traction. This taxa is most recently referred to as a subspecies of the hoary bat, and it is not currently recognized as a species by the US Fish and Wildlife Service or the IUCN.
