"Ellison competes in yachting"

In English this reads weirdly, implies he's an active sailor and sportsperson, rather than just a funder. I see no reference to him currently competing in the competitions on the boat.

I suggest "Ellison is involved in yachting through his funding of Oracle Team USA" as a more accurate explanation of what he does.

This is a more accurate presentation. However, I'd suggest that it's just as accurate to say "Ellison competes in yachting through his funding of Oracle Team USA". It makes it clear that he's not on the boat trimming the main sheet, but he's actively making it possible for there to be someone on the boat trimming the main sheet. Equivalent to…

Does the article really need all the “equivalent to” references? It takes away from the flow of the article and doesn’t really provide information that is relevant to the subject person. Just make a statement at the end that says “all dollar references were at the time the transactions were executed” or something similar and leave the math as an exercise for the reader if they so wish. ~2026-29157-51 (talk) 18:55, 14 May 2026 (UTC)
