The 06/04/09 ammendment restores the original text and removes the innacurate info

26/05/09 ammendment deleting the entry "In 2008, it became apparent that the Institute was heading for bankruptcy etc, etc" was made for the same reason as the previous ammendment. The user who added this ammendment should also note that Wikipedia is not a news site and should refer to the tenants of use for wikipedia before adding any further comment. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Carlosestevez (talk • contribs)

Could we please have an editorial lock on this page to prevent this repeated addition of pov information. Wikipedia is not a noticeboard or forum and as such is not the place to announce "Members are calling for a new Extraordinary General Meeting". Addition of Governance History (2008–2024)

I have added a new 'Governance' section to the article. I previously attempted to document some of these events under a 'Crisis' heading, but I recognize that the framing was not sufficiently neutral.

This revised text focuses on a factual, chronological history of the Institute’s governance—covering the 2008 financial crisis, office location disputes, and the 2022 presidency vacancy—rather than a 'crisis' narrative.

A note to fellow editors: This section is strictly supported by reliable secondary sources and official reports. If you believe the text requires correction or removal, I kindly ask that you:

Explain the reason for the change here on the Talk page.

Provide a supporting reference for any factual adjustments.

Help maintain the NPOV balance between the official Institute position and independent press reporting.

The section should probably be removed completely given the lack of independent sources demonstrating any encyclopedic value or due weight.

After reading it over in light of the clear COI problems, I trimmed it down to just the "Governance Challenges 2022" section. That section seems UNDUE as presented, but has independent sourcing at least. --Hipal (talk) 17:11, 7 January 2026 (UTC)

I note the maintenance tag regarding primary source reliance. As a disclosed member (see user page), I agree the article currently relies heavily on the LI website. This is partly due to the niche nature of professional history, where independent secondary coverage is scarce.

However, to improve neutrality and verifiability, I have recently added a 'Governance' section supported by independent reporting (The Times, HortWeek, Pro Landscaper). I am also happy to help swap out other primary citations for independent ones where they exist.

For example, I can look for citations from Tony Aldous’s 'Landscape by Design' (1979) and Geoffrey Jellicoe’s 'The Landscape of Man' (1975)—both independent published works—to verify historical milestones currently cited to the LI website. I welcome a neutral editor’s view on whether this would satisfy the maintenance concerns. TomTurner2 (talk) 17:46, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
