The Secret World Chronicles

The character Harmony in the five-volume "braided novel" The Secret World Chronicle is identified as a lamia late in the story, and then bound by magic within one of her former victims. Would it be appropriate to add this to the section on modern instances? Are quotations from the last book suitable sources? I know of no independent sources for this. I wrote most of the wiki pages about it all at Fandom.

I know two of the authors personally, and can get any needed permissions.

There is also a lamia in Neverwhere. I only remember her vaguely.

Hi Mokurai, Wikipedia's guideline on popular culture sections is MOS:POPCULT. Generally, we do require reliable, secondary sources to include mention of a cultural reference (citations to the work itself can be appropriate, but only if accompanied by a secondary source). Judging by your comment, my guess is that we wouldn't be able to adequately source a mention of Lamia's appearance in that work. It's also worth noting that the section might not currently adhere to MOS:POPCULT, and might need pruning. – Michael Aurel (talk) 03:11, 29 August 2025 (UTC)

Lamia in Berber mythology

@Deor Lamia is mentioned in the article in Libyan (berber) mythology, the article mentions Lamia partaking and originating from Libya :

"In the earliest myths, Lamia was a beautiful queen of ancient Libya "

"These include the half-woman, half-snake beasts of the "Libyan myth"

"Diodorus's rationalization was that the Libyan queen in her drunken state "

"This Lamia of Libya has her double in Lamia-Sybaris of the legend around Delphi"

"the scent of the monsters in the Libyan myth"

these are direct quotes from the article that mentions both the Libyan (berber) myth in Berber Mythology as well as the origin of Lamia. Deceptecon (talk) 10:34, 10 February 2026 (UTC)

She's a figure from Greek mythology, associated with Libya, yes. However, that doesn't mean that she also appeared in Berber mythology. Do you know of reliable sources showing that she did? Gawaon (talk) 11:23, 10 February 2026 (UTC)

I completely understand now what you mean @Gawaon, greek historians such as Diodorus Siculusattributing Lamia's origins to Libya or Dio Chrysostom describing it as the "Libyan Myth" are not sufficient to mark Lamia as part of Libyan (berber) mythology, modern scholarship by reliable sources must confirm it as such and state it clearly.
