Yellow star example

I've only seen Lambda Velorum once, but it really looked yellow to me. The most vivid shade of yellow of any star I've ever seen. Is this worth mentioning in the article? After all, red stars have a real following, so why not highlight an outstanding example of a yellow star? LightSpeed (talk) 00:53, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

That's curious because K-type stars are usually described as orange. Were there any contrasting stars in the view? That can sometimes have an effect on the perceived hue. Regards, RJH (talk) 18:26, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Mass

It is impossible that a star that around 7M⊙ leave the main sequence at around 30 millions years. The duration of main sequence for a 7M⊙ star is around 50 millions years. ~2026-59677-9 (talk) 21:26, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

While there are considerable uncertainties on both the age and the mass, especially the mass, I would question your value for the main-sequence life of a 7 M_☉ star. Lithopsian (talk) 21:41, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
