Adding reference for population figures

[edit]

I noticed that the table listing counties is broken, so I went through the page history in an attempt to find the correct figure for Yirol East's population. The number that seems to jump out in the most recent "unbroken" versions of the article show the population of that county at 1,167,402. However, the infobox claims that only around 700 thousand people live in the state, so one million in that county must be incorrect. Looking back further, it shows that the figure for Yirol East was once listed as 67,402. However, the thing that all these figures share is that they don't include any reference to an outside source verifying their authenticity. I was able to find a source for the population figures based on the 2008 census (pdf: catalog.ihsn.org/index.php/catalog/4216/download/55706) but I don't know this should best be referenced, as I do not often edit Wikipedia. From that source, Table T02 (page 4) gives the population for all states in Sudan at the time, including Lakes, and verifies the population on the article; Table T041 (page 14) lists the populations of all counties in the state, and confirms Yirol East's population at 67,402. I'm not sure if there are newer figures available, and I'm not sure how this information should be included. In the meantime and as a stopgap, I've changed the article's listed population for Yirol East back to the figure from the census, but it should still probably have a citation. -- 2601:442:4100:45C0:E9EB:5BA2:24D5:9478 (talk) 19:30, 18 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
