Not Lake Inari -> Lake Inarijärvi

I have been a professional translator for 34 years. Although the Finnish name for the lake is Inarijärvi, which literally translated means Lake Inari (järvi means lake in Finnish), you will not find it on any map as Lake Inari. In my opinion, this is a question of safety, as many tourists get lost in the Lappish wilderness. In addition, proper names and/or place names are rarely translated - with the exception of whole nations and some large cities abroad. ~2026-39963-93 (talk) 06:10, 15 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
