According to findagrave.com, Laban Wheaton was the great-grandson of Rev. Ephraim Wheaton of Rehoboth, MA (1659-1734)

Warren L. Wheaton, namesake of the Wheaton College in Illinois, was the third great-grandson of the same Rev. Ephraim Wheaton:
