It's almost exactly like Fruity Loops (FL Studio 8).

Malware Issues

I tried to download the Win 64-bit version from the "official" project page and my Firefox gave a red page that it is a "Misleading page" due to several reports so accessing it is prohibited. Does it mean anything for Wikipedia? For example, can we prove or refute anyhow is this true or not, and if it is right, should we talk about that in articles, or remove LMMS link on this page? Can we discuss the recent deletion of this page? It should be restored. If there are quality issues, I'd be happy to help resolve them. Since there was no AfD, I think you could just restore the article, and say in the edit comment that they should take it to AfD if they’re not happy (and point them to this discussion). To be clear: the article was merged, not deleted, and there was (briefly) a merge notice, and merging can be done without discussion anyway. It can also be undone without discussion. Since there’s no obvious consensus for merging, an AfD is probably necessary. And it doesn’t appear to be appropriate to create an AfD for an article that you don’t want merged or deleted, so the onus is on someone who wants it merged to create the AfD. (The merge was what you might call a null merge - there was nothing in the article that could actually be merged. @Zundark Thanks for the background on this. Nomenclature/semantics "deleted" versus "merged" I have a hard time agreeing with that, but I'm new here so I won't argue semantics.

All editors:

Moving forward, I think that the article can use improvement by removing 1st party links in favor of 3rd party links and having it written in a style that's more descriptive of the history of the project rather than a feature description. For example:

• "Pattern/Beat & Bassline Editor" can be replaced with something more generically referred to in the industry as a "Sequencer/MIDI editor".
• "Plugins: TripleOscillator" can simply be replaced with a section about standard 1st-party synthesizers, historical reliance on 3rd party plugins and the formats supported as a technical reference... (since a high-level description of capabilities is more valuable than referencing plugins by name)
• I think FL Studio page is an OK example page to mimic. It has the bare-bones project history needed for someone interested to know more about the application.
• I think Blender is an exemplary example to mimic. It has a chart with supported high-level features, dedicated section of plugins and several screenshots to accommodate, and sections about widespread industrial use.

At a minimum, I think we owe a better page, one that's more similar to that of FL Studio. With enough work, we can make it a valuable information resource similar to that of Blender's page. Tresf0 (talk) 14:37, 10 September 2026 (UTC)

When I first arrived at this article more than a decade ago, I knew that LMMS is a DAW but had no idea how one would create music with it and was keenly interested in finding out. General DAW info didn't fit the bill; I needed a concrete example. In particular, I hoped to find here a synopsis of the user interface -- a reasonable expectation for Wikipedia coverage of this topic. Project history is potentially of interest to readers, but IMO it's essential to cover the actual UI, and to do so using native LMMS naming conventions, supplemented with generic DAW terminology where applicable.
