Koyil (கோயில்) or Kovil (கோவில்)- Tamil Grammar rule
[edit]'உடம்படுமெய்ப் புணர்ச்சி' என்ற தமிழ் இலக்கண விதி
[edit]In Tamil language, both the terms கோயில் (Koyil) and கோவில் (Kovil) are used interchangeably, although கோவில் (Kovil) is the correct usage according to the rules of grammar. "உடம்படுமெய்ப் புணர்ச்சி” என்ற தமிழ் இலக்கண விதிப்படி, "வ்” வரும், கோ+இல் = கோவில். உடம்படு மெய்:
- நிலைமொழியில் இ, ஈ, ஐ, இருந்தால் "ய்” யும்,
- ஏனைய உயிர்கள் (அ, ஆ, உ, ஊ, ஓ) இருந்தால் "வ்”வும்,
- "ஏ' இருந்தால் இரண்டும் (ஏதாவது ஒன்று) உடம்படு மெய்யாக வரும்.
கோவில் என்பதில் "ஓ' உள்ளது. "ஓ' இருந்தால் "வ்' தான் உடம்படு மெய். ஆதலின் கோவில் மட்டுமே சரி. கோ+இல் = கோ (க்+ஓ)+ வ் +இல்= (வ்+இ=வி) கோவில். உதாரணம்:
- தே (த்+ஏ)+வ்+ஆரம்= தேவாரம்.
- அவனே (ஏ)+ய்+அழகன் = அவனேயழகன்.
- அமெரிக்காவில் "ஆ' இருப்பதால் "வ்' வந்தது.
- திருச்சியில் "இ' இருப்பதால் " ய்' வந்தது.
