Information conflicting and/or missing

This article states that Shravasti was the capital of Kosala from the 6th century BC to the 6th century AD. Then it proceeds to say that Kosala was defeated and absorbed by Magadha in the 4th century BC. That gives readers a gap of about 800+ years from when Magadha conquered Kosala to when the capital of Kosala was no loger at Shravasti. What happened after Kosala was absorbed by Magadha? Who ruled Kosala after the Mauryan Empire? When did the Guptas conquer Kosala, and when did they lose Kosala?

I've seen 3 different maps of India in the late 500s, and each of them show a different kingdom in this location. One shows "Kosala", another shows "Nala", and the third shows "Daksina". Which one is correct? Thomas Lessman (talk) 20:26, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Kosala and Kosala Kingdom??

Why is there an article about Kosala and a separate article about Kosala Kingdom. These appear to be the same entity on a cursory reading of the two articles. WikiDan61^ChatMe!_ReadMe!! 21:49, 19 April 2023 (UTC)

Kosala is for the historical kingdom and region. Kosala Kingdom is about the same kingdom but in the context of Hindu epic texts. Kosala Kingdom is poorly sourced and written by retired editor User:Jijithnr and IP editors. Chariotrider555 (talk) 22:04, 19 April 2023 (UTC)

Didn't a Gupta King rename Saketa as Ayodhya?

if the town of Saketa was renamed Ayodhya by a Skandagupta, in 5th century CE, how do we have Saketa as well as Ayodhya as the Capital of Kosala? Early Jain texts also refer to Saketa as the capital of Kosala. Tamir Nazir (talk) 10:05, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
