The three greatest punters of early Southern football (1890s) were Ormond Simkins of Sewanee, Phil Connell of Vanderbilt, and Kit Jones of Georgia. One source says Jones was born in New York City. Another says he was from Columbus, Georgia. There is an A. Clarence Jones on the 1880 census in NY here. Cake (talk) 17:46, 15 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
