Sergei Kirov should be mentioned on this page

[edit]

He's the most famous person named "Kirov", and most of the other things on the page are named for him... AnonMoos (talk) 00:49, 23 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

When a separate article exists for a last name, all people mentions go there. Sergey Kirov is mentioned in the Kirov (surname) article. Mentioning him here as well would be duplication, as well as run afoul of the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC guideline.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky)  (yo?); February 13, 2017; 15:17 (UTC)

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: No consensus. There have been concerns of such a big group nominations during the discussion. Its better to open seperate discussions for each of them. (closed by non-admin page mover) Warm Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 17:39, 7 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

KirovKirov (disambiguation) – In the same manner that Lenin redirects to Vladimir Lenin, Stalin to Joseph Stalin, Malenkov to Georgy Malenkov, Khrushchev to Nikita Khrushchev, Brezhnev to Leonid Brezhnev, Andropov to Yuri Andropov, Gorbachev to Mikhail Gorbachev, Yeltsin to Boris Yeltsin, Putin to Vladimir Putin, Bukharin to Nikolai Bukharin, Kamenev to Lev Kamenev, Beria to Lavrentiy Beria, Voroshilov to Kliment Voroshilov, Bulganin to Nikolai Bulganin, Shepilov to Dmitri Shepilov or Vyshinsky to Andrey Vyshinsky, so should Kirov redirect to Sergey Kirov. Everything on the disambiguation page [other than Kirov (surname)] refers to him along with everything under "See also" — Kirovsk (disambiguation), Kirovsky (disambiguation), Kirovka (disambiguation); Imeni Kirova (disambiguation); Kirovske (disambiguation); Kirovo (disambiguation), etc — there have been also streets, factories, institutions, such as the renowned ballet, all named after him — after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, most have been restored to their original names. Nearly two years ago, a mass nomination which included Kirov was unsuccessful at Talk:Kalinin#Requested move 15 April 2017.     Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 23:55, 1 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Regarding comments used to close the above move request

[edit]

There appears to have been confusion of this move request with the group nomination submitted for Talk:Kalinin#Requested move 15 April 2017, which is mentioned at the end of this move request. The above move request was, in fact, a separate discussion for one of the entries in the earlier RM, not a big group nomination.    Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 19:11, 7 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
