Golden Eagle

Smith, 91 spells it "Quenepenon" and claims he's a member of the Otter Totem, also from the Toronto purchase. Unsure if it's the same Golden Eagle, but seems likely. Wily D 12:24, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

According to Dictionary of Canadian Biography, Kineubenae (Quinipeno, Quenebenaw) is the "Golden Eagle" in question, but does not list his doodem. Deeds/Nation lists the name as Quenepenon (Quenippon, Quinipeno, Quenebenaw, Kineubenae, The Golden Eagle), along with these variations: Quanibbenon, Quinipeno, Quenippenon, Quenepenon, Quenepenon, Quinipeno. Deeds/Nation indicates this Golden Eagle was of the [cat]fish doodem. CJLippert (talk) 14:36, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Err, this does seem to be the guy. His mark on the Toronto purchase looks like the image at the right. Is that compatible with "catfish"? Sacred Feathers definitely says "Otter". Wily D 14:45, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

That sure looks like an Nigig-doodem (Otter clan) marker, as Beaver would look like that as well but would have a fat tail, sturgeon would also look like that but would have a split tail and whiskers, while catfish would have a bulbuous body, whiskers and a split tail. I'd say Deeds/Nations have indicated doodem in err. ~~When the Golden Eagle article is created, this particular discussion ought to be moved there.~~ CJLippert (talk) 15:55, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
