– The all Azerbaijani city names should be moved to English version as it is official versions. Moreover, there is more results in English version of it and some Azerbaijani letters is unknown to readers, which will cause problems in reading the article such as "Xırdalan". - Oppose - as with all the other moves. In ictu oculi (talk) 14:35, 16 November 2014 (UTC)
- Rather than single-handedly making an undiscussed bulk moves that affects the stable titling of an entire article corpus, note that recent English books do use Turkic diacritics for Azerbaijani the same as en.wp historically has done for all Turkic geo articles: [http://www.amazon.com/Lonely-Planet-Georgia-Armenia-Azerbaijan/dp/174179403X/ Lonely Planet Georgia, Armenia & Azerbaijan uses Turkic diacritics] [http://www.amazon.com/Azerbaijan-Excursions-Georgia-Mark-Elliott/dp/190586423X/ Azerbaijan Excursions Guide uses Turkic script] etc. In ictu oculi (talk) 23:44, 16 November 2014 (UTC)
- Support. All three titles use non-English letters. Red Slash 00:07, 17 November 2014 (UTC)

Xırdalan → Khirdalan – WP:COMMONNAME and WP:UE. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Jabrayil#Requested_move_4_October_2020. Thepharoah17 (talk) 10:27, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose per Mark Elliott Azerbaijan: With Excursions to Georgia 2004 p155 "Should you wish to see the fairly minimal sights of Xırdalan ( drinks factories ) ...". And again irrelevant citing that RM, as (1) this isn't a ghost town left by Armenians (2) that RM went contrary to WP:RS with bloc voting that looks like what it looks like, (3) this is not lost Armenian territory, this is an actual Azerbaijani inhabited city inside Azerbaijan. Rather than picking off individual Azerbaijan towns one by one for random names, wouldn't it be better to have an RFC to establish a rule to state that en.wp respects all Latin alphabet languages except Azerbaijani, and we can establish a rule to explain why Azerbaijani is the one Latin-alphabet language not welcome on en.wp. Xırdalan → Khirdalan – Per above nomination, WP:COMMONNAME and WP:UE. Google Scholar gives 565 hits for Khirdalan as opposed to 147 results for Xırdalan, many of which are in Azerbaijani and not English. It doesn't matter what a few cherry-picked sources say, the majority of sources use Khirdalan. TheodoresTomfooleries (talk) 05:38, 7 July 2026 (UTC) — Relisting. - Support per nom, and Ngrams, where both "Khirdalan" and "Khyrdalan" are more used than the Azerbaijani name. While open to both, "Khirdalan" does have more Scholar hits and hits on gov.az websites. DankJae 23:58, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
