Meaning of Khashoggi

[edit]

On-line translators including Google and Bing translate kaşıkçı to spoonbill, a type of bird.

The page Jamal Khashoggi claims that:

His surname means "spoon maker" (Kaşıkçı) in the Turkish language[1]

However, "spoonmaker" is an occupational surname and the idea that anyone works as just a spoonmaker seems doubtful.

Something's not right.

İt does mean "spoonmaker". Argentsky (talk) 14:00, 12 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
