"this thanksgiving, in an old growth forest, with our families, we decided it’s time to make our biggest move yet, forever. ❤️" in a singer-songwriter's social media post has been interpreted by some entertainment media as an engagement announcement. From the standpoint of an encyclopedia intent on sticking to facts, because to be otherwise focused can damage people's lives, it carries little weight (except perhaps when supplemented with other source material). As guided by Wikipedia, "Immediately remove contentious material that is unsourced or poorly sourced, especially if potentially libellous (including on the talk page)." Source is NOT any sort of official announcement of divorce (no matter how a musicians lyrics might be interpreted).

@Artaxerxes: I appreicate the concern. However, the note about the end of his earlier marriage is explicitly sourced/cited, which states "in the wake of his marriage ending" (quote of the secondary source, not the article subject). And this fact is not contentious so far as I can tell when searching for sources. Further, the wikipedia policy is NOT to use primary sources (WP:BLPSPS) but rather to cite secondary sources, here provided by Louisville Public Media. Perhaps it is helpful to phrase this as "the marriage ended...", rather than divorce.Dbsseven (talk) 11:25, 12 December 2025 (UTC)

"I was getting divorced at the time" in a YouTube video ["Ketch Secor on Being in the Ken Burns Documentary". YouTube. Retrieved 2025-12-14] is not a formal announcement of a completed divorce. Beyond the personal, marriages, divorces, and (maybe even) engagements have LEGAL aspects. Related announcements here should be taken with the greatest care as they can spawn reports elsewhere that can cause a multiplicity of difficulties for those concerned.--Artaxerxes (talk) 14:29, 12 March 2026 (UTC)

@Artaxerxes: Absolutely agree about being careful for a BLP. However, per WP:BLPSPS, we should keep the LPM source as it's a secondary AND keeps your goal of confirming the divorce has been completed, as the article states "in the wake of his marriage ending" (quote of the secondary source, not the article subject). My research just now shows 'Ketch publicly referred to Peelle as his "ex-wife" in promotional material for a solo appearance (e.g., WMNF event description: "having made peace with his ex-wife and former Old Crow band members").' Going from Tuttle's wisp of an "announcement" (not joint, not from him) on Instagram to full-scale "engagement" seems nothing more than an interpretation (and would best be couched as such). Divorce Status

Hi @Artaxerxes: and all, Starting a fresh thread, focused only on the divorce, as the old one appears to have become confusing given the most recent reply is out of sequence and the multiple items being discussed.

Trying to break the challenge down clearly and neutrally, the issue is ensuring the citation(s) for marriage status are appropriate for a WP:BLP. The policy for citation states in this order:

1. "Articles should document... reliable secondary sources have published about the subjects"
2. "in some circumstances what the subjects have published about themselves"

There are three possible sources for the divorce that have been considered/discussed/added/reverted.

• LPM source includes an explicit statement from the article author confirming this item with the statement "in the wake of his marriage ending" (quote of the secondary source, not Secor)
• Two sources, WMNF and CG-podcast, only have Secor speaking for himself on the topic . (I have found one additional, similar source: a written interview )

My understanding is the LPM source best fits WP:BLP policy and so must be cited. I have no problem with citing the other sources, but don't believe these can be cited alone as this might violate WP:BLPSELFPUB Dbsseven (talk) 12:16, 21 March 2026 (UTC)

Personal Life
