History section, Admission to the Union

[edit]

What should be expanded or even inserted is how Kentucky was admitted to the Union before Vermont. The article currently points this out but incorrectly gives an accurate timeline. There's also context in that George Washington gave a speech to congress which included the pleas of Kentuckians to become part of the Union, citing recent violent activity of native tribes.

Kentucky is not the south

[edit]

I am from Kentucky and I can confirm that it is not the south. 172.103.36.135 (talk) 02:12, 9 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

There isn't an official definition. So it depends on who you ask. See Southeastern United States. GMGtalk 12:45, 9 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
I agree with this comment. ~2026-68342-4 (talk) 19:14, 31 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Everyone has opinions, but articles are based on reliable sources. Reliable sources point to Kentucky being geographically in the south(east). Are there pockets with more northern or Midwestern influence? Sure. But to incorporate that into articles, particularly for articles covering those pockets, we need.... reliable sources. See List of people from Kentucky. It's not necessary to list everyone in the main Kentucky article. Stefen 𝕋ower HuddleHandiwerk 19:38, 31 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

History section needs expansion

[edit]

Someone with knowledge of the subject needs to flesh out the "History" section, which is a bit threadbare. Beyond My Ken (talk) 00:07, 25 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
