It's clear from her Sky Sports profile (linked at the end of the article) that she supports Liverpool. She also appeared in the documentary "One Night in Istanbul" about Liverpool's Champions League comeback in May 2005, and is clearly a Liverpool fan. I changed her to a Liverpool fan, which she confirms on a talksport Q&A in which she is asked: Q. With your Dad being a Liverpool legend was it always hammered home to you that you would be a Red? A. It was never even questioned. I think my parents knew that we had impeccable taste.

Move this Article?

Does anyone think we should move this page to her married name. Raphie (talk) 21:28, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

She was on fighting talk on Saturday and called herself Kelly Dalglish, as did all the adverts about the show the official BBC website, the guests and the podcast information. Someone's jumped the gun moving it to the married name!

Her latest appearance (18 April) was under the name of Cates.Patrick lovell (talk) 13:32, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

Nationality

Kelly Cates moved from Scotland to England at the age of two when her father moved from Celtic to Liverpool in 1977. Since then, apart from two years studying at the University of Glasgow, she has spent the vast majority of her life living in England and speaks with an English accent. Her working life as a sports broadcaster, where she has become known to the public, has been mostly spent in England. My view is that as per MOS:CONTEXTBIO it is more accurate to describe her nationality as British rather than Scottish.

I gather that she feels proud of her Scottish birthplace and proud of her Scottish father, Kenny Dalglish, which is of course completely natural, but that doesn't mean that she's not British. If, for example, she had been born in Canada or Japan and had moved from either of those two countries to England at the age of two and had spent the vast majority of her life in England, we wouldn't describe her as Canadian or Japanese as per MOS:CONTEXTBIO. Therefore, unless a reliable source is available where she states "I'm not British" or "I don't consider myself to be British" then in my view her nationality of British is accurate and complies with WP:MOSBIO guidelines.
