Hiya, I will be reviewing this article over the next few days. MB2437 16:34, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Immediate checks

[edit]
  1. It is a long way from meeting any one of the six good article criteria
  2. It contains copyright violations Passes Earwig.
  3. It has, or needs, cleanup banners that are unquestionably still valid. These include {{cleanup}}, {{POV}}, {{unreferenced}} or large numbers of {{citation needed}}, {{clarify}}, or similar tags (See also {{QF}})
  4. It is not stable due to edit warring on the page
  5. It has issues noted in a previous GA review that still have not been adequately addressed, as determined by a reviewer who has not previously reviewed the article

Criteria

[edit]
  1. Well-written:
    1. the prose is clear, concise, and understandable to an appropriately broad audience; spelling and grammar are correct;
    2. it complies with the Manual of Style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation.
  2. Verifiable with no original research:
    1. it contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline;
    2. reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose);
    3. it contains no original research;
    4. it contains no copyright violations or plagiarism.
  3. Broad in its coverage:
    1. it addresses the main aspects of the topic;
    2. it stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style).
  4. Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each.
  5. Stable: it does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute.
  6. Illustrated, if possible, by media such as images, video, or audio:
    1. media are tagged with their copyright statuses, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content;
    2. media are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions.

Comments

[edit]
Paragraphing is slightly inconsistent in § 2017–2019—maybe divide up into 3/4 of more similar lengths. Besides that, no issues here; the prose is well-written and understandable, with all necessitated jargon appropriately wikilinked, bar "PDC Development Tours" in the lead and "Tour Card Holder Qualifier" in § 2023–2025. Might be worth introducing players such as Smith, Van Gerwen, and Price as being "[so-and-so] World Champion", "defending champion", or "world No. x" at the time of the event. MB2437 19:48, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Done for Van Gerwen and Price. Smith hadn't won a major tournament nor become world number one at the time of his first mention in the article, so I've left his mentions the same Greenflipper (talk) 19:59, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
I'd say it may be worth noting Smith was the reigning world champion when he defeated him on the 2023 European Tour—all good here though. MB2437 22:17, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough, done Greenflipper (talk) 22:23, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
His birth place should not have the county linked, both in the infobox and § Early life. MB2437 19:48, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Done Greenflipper (talk) 19:59, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
All looks to follow the standard format for WP:DARTS. The infobox is very wide—not sure if this can be rectified. MB2437 19:48, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
I've tried stacking the Development Tour seasons on top of each other. Is length of infobox an issue? It's something I've addressed on the darts wikiproject before Greenflipper (talk) 20:01, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Looks much better now; no issues with the length. The infobox design itself is more of a concern for the Project than this article. MB2437 22:16, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
A few words to watch scattered throughout i.e. "but" and "however", which can read as persuasive. MB2437 19:48, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Done Greenflipper (talk) 20:02, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Some citations are given before punctuation. MB2437 19:48, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Assuming this was the stray citation in the middle of a sentence about Development Tour titles that I moved. If so, done. Greenflipper (talk) 20:03, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Would be nice to have text in the sub-titles for § 2017–2019 and § 2023–2025. Is the latter an ongoing span? If so, "2023–present" would probably be more appropriate. MB2437 19:48, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Done, but unsure what subtitle would be most suitable for 2023–present Greenflipper (talk) 20:04, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
On second thought, the span is incomplete so does not really need a title anyway—all good. MB2437 22:20, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Reference spot-check: 3 6 12 15 17 21 24 29 32 38 All pass my review—a few primary sources in there but they are fine for verification. MB2437 19:48, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
No sources given for his results matrices; his DWC scores are given in the body so no issue there. Are there no darts databases that can be used to reference this? MB2437 22:49, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Added a Darts Database source that should cover most things except the rankings. Another one of those things that's a Wikiproject-wide issue Greenflipper (talk) 23:16, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Early life does not cover his education. MB2437 19:48, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Done Greenflipper (talk) 20:05, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Where did he debut on the youth tour? Any local competitions he was successful in prior? Which pub did he grow up playing at? Who are his parents? MB2437 19:48, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Done Greenflipper (talk) 22:11, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
No details on his struggles once emerging onto the professional scene, nor Van Gerwen's comments about him. MB2437 19:48, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Unsure of how to incorporate this into the article. Greenflipper (talk) 22:38, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
No mention of any career-high averages, year-end rankings, or earnings in prose. MB2437 19:48, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
None have much notable coverage, although I've added some details surrounding his UK Open semi-final run and his Worlds loss to Grant Sampson Greenflipper (talk) 22:36, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
No information on his personal adult life outside of darts, background on his nickname/walk-out music, or endorsements. MB2437 19:48, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Didn't find much that wasn't already covered in the early life section, included darts manufacturer and nickname explanation in the personal life section although I'm not sure if they belong there. Greenflipper (talk) 22:37, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Extra

[edit]
@Greenflipper, I see you are already updating the article from what I left in my sandbox, so I will refrain from putting this "on hold" for now; let me know when you would like me to check everything over. MB2437 19:48, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yeah I saw another editor reference your comments so I went looking. I'll let you know! Greenflipper (talk) 19:54, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
I think that's all of them covered besides the ones I've left comments about Greenflipper (talk) 22:39, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
I forgot to add a point to 2b—not sure how easily that can be rectified. I'll have a look through when I can! MB2437 22:50, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
All good to proceed; to keep true to the standards, please make sure this article stays updated, hopefully with more details on his personal life if they are reliably published. Great job! MB2437 23:39, 2 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Will do, cheers! He's in a bit of a precarious situation in terms of staying on the tour so hopefully he keeps afloat. Greenflipper (talk) 00:06, 3 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Made a few bold tweaks and have promoted the article to WP:GA status, well done again. MB2437 00:39, 3 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
